CELEBES is Role Play Game (RPG) simulating the planning and control of a Power Plant Project; the event is based on the organization of 4 teams (Engineering, Purchasing, Erection, Commissioning) that have to develop the planning and coordinate it along the project life cycle of a new Thermal Power Plant; the Teams need to operate collaboratively for guaranteeing the respect of the overall Project Objectives: Deadlines and Budget Respect; therefore these Teams have even to pay attention to their specific goals (resource saturation and workload, constraints, budget, etc.) for individual team success. CELEBES Simulator allows to define, to control and to change the Project Scheduling and Budget concurrently among the four teams and to introduce critical elements or dynamic changes by the Instructors.
CELEBES Simulator includes a medium level WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) of the project with details about related costs, times and resources and operates over a Computer network for supporting the alignement of central project plan with team planning; CELEBES simulator includes the contract data related to payments and milestones as well as each team resource.
In fact Experts with long experience in Project Management play the role of the Project Manager with some assistant as staff. The Teams are provided with previous similar plant planning and data for properly and consistently define and arrange the planning for optimizing Resources.
At the end a debriefing and discussion is used to emphasize the impact of the experience.
